David studied Illustration and Printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, graduating in 1993. He subsequently taught Illustration and Life Drawing in the Design School there for a number of years.
Since then, he has worked for many prominent corporate clients including The Scotsman, The Herald, Macmillan Publishing, Adobe and the Bank of Scotland and has exhibited in solo shows in Edinburgh and London. His paintings have also been exhibited at The Royal Scottish Academy and The Royal Glasgow Institute of The Fine Arts.
His work is held by an impressive list of private collectors in both the UK and abroad, including actor Kate Winslet and film director Sam Mendes.
Of his work he said, "I love to tell a story, a moment in time or part of an ongoing narrative. Observations of my life and the lives of others work their way through my paintings. Dreamscapes linking the viewer between two worlds, a rendering in paint of a collective subconscious, a window into our deepest desires and fears."
