Twenty years on and with children all grown up , Karen still teaches but has the time to move back to concentrate on  her clever and joyous paintings .

Her current work has been motivated by a clear out of school cupboards - she is drawing and painting on hardback book covers, giving them a new lease of life. Karen is inspired by objects that have been a part of daily life, such as cherished toys, children’s shoes and favourite handbags.

David Reid said ‘’ Karen has effortless style and ability with colour . I’d been looking for an artist who could offer something very different for varying age groups but also for different home types. When I’ve shown clients Karen’s work they instantly smile and think of family and bygone days. ‘’
