Born in Glasgow in 1958, Marion Drummond has lived all of her life in Scotland. Justifiably considered as one of Scotland's leading artists, she likes to combine her love of hillwalking with painting alfresco to capture life with a sense of urgency and immediacy. Marion lives in a beautiful part of Scotland and when out dog walking, she picks up ideas and colour notes, particularly for her wonderful paintings of flowers. Largely self-taught, Marion has developed an incredible reputation and she is influenced by, amongst others, Rubens and Jenny Saville. Much quoted for her expert use of oils where she paints with her fingers, rags and a pallet knife, no brushes. Whilst a superb portrait artist, Marion is probably best known for her stunning paintings of flowers and still life.
Gallerist comment – ‘Marion was quoted a few years ago by The Glasgow Herald as one of the top 50 artists in which to invest. All I can say is that having known Marion for quite a few years and sat with her in her beautiful garden, I've rarely seen anyone capture the beauty of flowers and transfer them so magically onto canvas.'
