Graduating with a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Art Practice in Glasgow in 2014, Jackie's modern and hugely popular style has resulted in her paintings now being shown in galleries throughout the country. She lives and works in Glasgow but grew up on the east coast and vividly incorporates her experience of rural living with her love of countryside and the sea in her incredibly popular paintings. Jackie now paints mainly in acrylics with painstaking attention to detail, building up layers, alternating paint with glaze and then rubbing back expertly to reveal previous layers. Textures are achieved by imprinting lace and other textiles into a gesso and modelling paste base. She often adds collage creating another layer of interest. Immersed in the countryside all of her life, she closely observes her subject, senses the atmosphere and feels a connection. Only then can she begin to paint.
Gallerist comment - 'I've only got to know Jackie's work recently but love her modern take on the countryside and folk in general. I'm not remotely surprised that Jackie's well priced, beautiful work, literally flies off the shelves.'
