Acclaimed Glasgow-born artist, Colin Fraser, has chosen the Ballater Gallery to exhibit his sought-after work for his welcome return to the Scottish art scene for the first time in almost 14 years. Colin is well-known in both Europe and North America for his still life and landscape paintings, which are painted using egg tempera. Egg tempera painting is an ancient painting technique which uses egg yolk as a binder for pigment. It is a slow and meticulous process, but results in a luminous, vibrant painting. It took Colin 10 years to perfect his technique using the medium, but the results have been well worth the wait. His paintings have a wonderful freshness and luminosity that exceed what can be achieved using conventional oils.
